There is only one restriction imposed on your chartering here and that is that you have to be over 18 years of age. The club operates two charters a day during peak seasons (Mondays to Fridays). The boats are large enough for up to six guests and you can choose from many different routes that take you around the lake. You can choose the route that goes through Cedar Point, Harbor Island or through the islands and down towards Ohio Beach. The boats generally sail from the dock at Harbor View Yacht Club, sail around to Harbor Island and back

In some cases, with improper use or poor quality, it can cause injury and even death of the rider...

Steady breezes, glorious sunshine, great fun and entertainment, are what persons await for the 2015 Bequia Easter Regatta. Bequia, the largest of the Grenadine Islands and home to some of the finest model and sail boat builders, will celebrate its annual Bequia Easter Regatta from 2nd - 6th April, 2015. The crystal blue waters will be littered with yachts and fishing boats competing for the winning spots. Crews ranging from first time sailors, to experts, family teams and solos from Trinidad, Grenada, Barbados, St. Lucia and the world over will journey to Bequia to participate in the Regatta. A lustrous fleet of 45 to 55 yachts are expected to compete in 5 classes of the 34th Regatta celebrations. Visitors can even have a chance to see the Iron Duke, the 130 year old whaling boat, compete against newcomers on the race course. The panoply of festival events includes evening concerts, beach parties, and family events. The Easter weekend in Bequia will be sure to provide an atmosphere of fun and vibrancy, which has something for everyone to get caught up with in the Bequia Easter fever. Kicking off the On-shore activities, is a Gospel concert titled “Come Celebrate Jesus”, which will be held on Thursday 2nd April, 2015, that will feature singing, drama and dancing. The free concert will be held in the capital Port Elizabeth, under the ‘Almond Tree’ from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. On Sunday 5th April, 2015, Lay Day, cruisers, racers and visitors along with boat loads of visitors from mainland St. Vincent, will journey to Lower Bay Beach to enjoy the waters, get some sand between their toes and to socialize with the locals. For persons wishing for a quieter option, the Bequia Beach Hotel in Friendship Bay will host the Sand Castle and Crazy Craft competition. The weekend of activities climaxes on Monday 6th April, 2015, where persons can participate in a range of activities organized by the Onshore Committee under the ‘Almond Tree’. One of the On-shore activities to look out for is the Greasy Pole. A telephone pole which is heavily greased extends out over the water. A flag is nailed to the end of the pole and participants must make their way to the end of the pole and grab the flag. Whatever your strategy is: slow and steady or sprint to the end, the greasy pole makes for an exciting contest.

Bottom: Harvard Varsity Eight 2004. Photo via Row2k.com] The Social Network film directed by David Fincher and written by Aaron Sorkin finished off the last scenes of shooting this weekend at the Henley Royal Regatta (all regatta pictures are HERE). The Regatta, one of the three Royal British sporting events of the year (others include Wimbledon and Ascot) features crews from all over the world and spectators whose drink of choice are Pimm's cups. Actors Armie Hammer and Josh Pence, who play the twin American rowers and entreprenuers Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss were on site to film rowing scenes from the film. In addition, Max Minghella, who plays Divya Narendra (friend and ConnectU business partner of the twins) was also present for the filming. Divya met his film personality for the first time... Divya Narendra and his film persona Max Minghella Filming at the Regatta, which is as old-fashioned as they come, was no short order...16 cameras were strategically placed around the race course and hidden so as not to be obtrusive and have the most realistic setting as possible. Filming was done during the lunch break and team time in the afternoon. There were only two takes, so the pressure was on! The 2004 Grand Challenge Cup Final between the Harvard University Varsity Eight and the Dutch Olympic Eight. The Dutch would go on to win a Silver Medal at the Athens Olympic Games two months later.

The cheers that broke out at the Cambridge Boat Club 15 minutes into the Women’s Championship Singles were deafening. Newton’s own Gevvie Stone, bow number one in the race, was speeding around the bend, sustaining the marked interval between her and bow number three Kim Crow. Four minutes later – four minutes, six seconds and 88 hundredths of a second, to be precise – Stone crossed the finish line in a personal-best time of 19:06.88, to win her fourth Head Of The Charles title, leaving two Olympic medalist in her wake. Double London medalist Kim Crow of Austrialia was second, a little over 13 seconds back, and 2009 Championship Singles winner Ursula Grobler of South Africa took third with a time of 19:31.34. Olympic gold medalist Miraslava Knapkova was fifth. After accepting her fourth Cambridge Boat Club Plate at Saturday night’s awards ceremony, Stone said the cheering she heard along the way was invigorating. “There was a lot of noise out there and it was awesome. I’m lucky to have that support, ” she said. “And the cheers make me conscious. Like, ‘OK, people know me. I’d better look good. Better look like I’m pulling hard.’” Rowing her home course gave Stone a great advantage, she acknowledged. Along with the support of her boat club, a familiarity with the Charles’s nuances boosted her confidence on the water. “I steered maybe my best race ever, ” she said. “That helped me a lot. I just went out there to try to have fun and try to haul on it and yeah, go as hard as I could.” But Stone has faced some disadvantages too. Despite her experience with the course, her schedule in medical school has left her with minimal practice time. “I started med school eight weeks ago and I’ve been in the hospital about 12 hours a day, five days a week and a few weekend days, ” she explained. “I mean I was training a lot through the end of August. So I think I had that base that fortunately I was able to do a little bit of leaning back on.” Stone will join forces with Crow and Knapkova Sunday as the Women’s Great Eight team in the Championship Eights. “It was fun to have Kim and Mirka row and we get to row again tomorrow, ” Stone said. “The girls are amazing. We’ve had a lot of fun practicing and during team dinners. So we expect to have a lot of fun tomorrow too.” With the cheers, the familiarity and the friendships, the race was a highlight of the Regatta that, for Stone, is among the most fun events of the year. “Being on your home course, with so much support and knowing the turns is an incredible experience, ” she said. “It’s always one of my favorite weekends of the year, if not my favorite weekend of the year.”
